A Few Christmas Pics

Feels Like Forever

It feels like forever since I posted. I guess we are just caught up in the holiday buzz! I'm sad that it's almost over (I love this time of year) but next Christmas we will have even more to celebrate. On Christmas morning as the girls were opening their presents I had this feeling of Christmas not feeling complete since our littlest is not "out of the oven yet". Initially it was a little tough to enjoy pregnancy, I just wanted to get it over. As time progresses I'm starting to realize that this is most likely my last time to do this so I am working really hard to enjoy every moment.

I had my 16 week appointment yesterday. It went great. The baby's heartbeat was very strong. When I initially heard it thumping away I asked the doc if that was the baby's or mine (if you remember from my last appointment I had a hard time discerning whose was whose). The doc laughed and said "that's definitely the baby". We scheduled our BIG ultrasound for January 28th (4 weeks from today). Sometimes it seems like so long in between appointments especially when you are really anticipating them! I think I'm starting to feel the baby move, it's still kind of hard to tell. I'm sure within the next couple of weeks I'll definitely be able to tell, that's when pregnancy gets really exciting.

We do not have any big plans for New Year's Eve. We are going to a special service at church tonight. There will be some comedians and the pastor will share his vision for the next year. We will probably be snug in our beds no later than 11pm. We usually ring in the New Year fast asleep. New Year's Day is always a day of relaxing for us. Sometimes we just lay around and watch movies all day (classics like National Lampoons Vacation, etc.). Tomorrow we are going to go bowling with Corey's family. His brother is moving to California in about 10 days so this will be one of the last family hurrahs with all of us, probably until next Christmas.

Happy New Year!

CREAM CHEESE & Bagels

The big surprise of last week was my Dad's 50th surprise birthday party. It went off without a hitch and my Dad was completely surprised. I am glad that this past weekend is over and that Christmas is this week!

The duplex is finally in order and ready to be rented so if any of you all know anyone who needs a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, roach-free place to live, send them my way!

I went in for my last night of work at Gymboree (since I got the new job with MOD) and they don't want me to go. They offered to let me work whatever I want (how about per diem but never available and keep my discount). I said I'd talk it over with Corey of course that was met with a big roll of the eyes by my hubby who can't figure out why I think this job is so fun in the first place. I'm pretty sure I'll end up telling them no. I'm thinking I'm going to have my hands pretty full come June.

Our Christmas starts tomorrow. Our tradition is to spend Christmas Eve with Corey's family and Christmas Day with mine. I'm so excited for the girls. They are at such awesome ages for Christmas. It's so magical and fun for them. I absolutely love seeing Christmas through their eyes!

You know you're pregnant when all you can think about is if you've been pregnant for all of the holidays (as of this pregnancy I will be) and CREAM CHEESE and Bagels (emphasis on the cream cheese, the bagels are just the side)!

Here's a Christmas story for you:
Twas two nights before Christmas... The Mother was nestled all snug in her bed while visions of cream cheese and bagels dance in her head! Stupid, I know but that's how serious this cream cheese thing is! Merry Christmas!

Exhausted and Super Busy

Who isn't super busy right, it's the holidays. Come on just let me whine about it a little, I am preggo after all. Anyway, I've had guests staying at my house this week, I've been working on the surprise (details later, I don't want to spoil it), I found out yesterday that I got a really awesome 10 hour a week job that starts after the holidays (I even told them I was preggo and it didn't phase them), we have to go to CoMo this weekend and I think I still need to finish Christmas Shopping. I'm upstairs again so I'm not going back the stairs to take a ornament picture today. I'm so tired I just want to curl up and sleep for a couple of days, I guess that will come next week! I wish all of my blog readers a happy weekend before Christmas weekend (with all I have to do I don't think I'll be posting before Sunday or Monday)!

PS - My new job is a granted position with March of Dimes! What an awesome mission! It's only a few hours a week and the majority of the job will be done from home. My plan is to blow them away so that I can make this granted position a permanent part-time position. Many of you know I have really struggled being a stay at home mom and wanting a career at the same time(it would probably be easier if I were still in CoMo, I met some really great SAHM's before I left, I'm sure spending time with them would've made the transition easier, now we just get to be blog friends). This seems like a really good fit for me and the family. The grant is 6 months so it'll take me right up to delivery-day!

Christmas Performance

The girls had their Christmas performance and party at the studio yesterday. It was so cute to see both of them dancing together. Ashley's so tiny that they had to wrap her skirt around twice and we had to cut the feet out of her tights.

Overwhelmed

That's how I feel right now. I'm too tired to walk downstairs, AGAIN, to take a picture of an ornament so the "ornament of the day" will have to wait until tomorrow. I've spent a majority of this icy day cleaning the girls playroom, what a job. They have way too much stuff! If I see one more stuffed animal I might tell the person who gives it to them to BEND OVER!

Our trip to Columbia was quite productive. We ended having to go through the 6 week process of evicting some tenants out of our duplex. They had to be out by Friday per their court order and when we got there Friday night to survey the damage let's just say that turning around, going back home and letting the property go into foreclosure was definitely a thought. We mustered up some strength from the good Lord (and some good friends) and endured. Let me just say that I don't think I've ever seen anything as nasty in my life, complete with cockroaches everywhere. Our property is only 5 years old and these people had only been there 6 months. It's really sad to see something that you have a vested interest in be treated and destroyed the way that our property was. I have never seen such a complete lack of respect for other peoples belongings in my life.

Our good friends, The DeShon's, were such a tremendous help to us this weekend. They have some rentals too and they have been through some interesting times with some of their properties and tenants as well. You could see in their faces and through their actions of help to us throughout the weekend that they definitely had an empathy for us that not many would understand. Thanks Guys! We love you! We have to go back this next weekend to do some more work but as a bonus we get to see some old friends at an X-mas party Saturday night.

There's a surprise going on this week that is going to have me super busy, I have cleaning to do, laundry, Christmas presents to still buy and wrap...my head is kind of spinning just thinking about it all of it. I better quit spending my time talking about how overwhelmed I am and just get busy!

Do You Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas?

Today's ornament is from Hallmark from this year and it's titled "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas". I have two of these little gems hanging on my tree. It has a button that you can push and listen to Gayle Peevey's version of the song. This is the ornament that we purchased for each of the girls this year. This is one of their all time favorite Christmas songs so I wanted each of them to have one. This way when they are older and out on their own they can hang it on their own tree and remember how much fun we had singing this silly song in the car. This song is our anthem anytime we we see hippopotamus's (as if we see them everyday, but you know trips to the zoo, on tv, etc). We even sang this song at the top of our lungs, with my Mom, sisters and nieces, at the Ft. Worth Zoo this past Spring when we saw the hippos.

I'll be taking an "ornament a day" blog break this weekend as we are headed to Columbia to do some work on our duplex and as a bonus visit some friends. I'm not sure how much visiting we will fit in since I have no idea what shape our duplex is in (that's a whole other story) but any visit is better than no visit at all!

New Baby

My mom gave me this ornament during Christmas 2003 to commemorate my pregnancy with Aly. It's always one of my favorites to hang on the tree.

New Home

This ornament was given to us by some dear family friends to commemorate the first house that Corey and I purchased. I still look back on the Christmas of 2003 with the fondest of memories. Corey graduated from Mizzou that December, started his full-time job with Shelter Insurance, we were expecting our first child in February and we purchased our first home. All of this happened within the month of December except of course for Aly's arrival, she would have to wait about two more months before making her grand entrance.

Our First Christmas

This ornament was a gift from Corey's parents from our first married Christmas together. I feel blessed that we will be celebrating our 11th anniversary this June!

Auld Lang Syne

What a busy weekend! Corey had a business dinner Friday night so the girls and I had some holiday fun and made peanut butter blossoms and Crispex Mix. We then curled up on the couch to watch Jim Carrey's version of "The Grinch" and waited for Daddy to get home. By Saturday night we discovered that Ashley is a little afraid of "The Grinch". She was making the "grinch" face. I guess this was her way of trying to show us exactly what she was afraid of. By the end of the movie Aly concluded that the grinch now had "Jesus in his heart".

Saturday morning we took the kids to "Breakfast at the Manger" at our church's central campus. The kids got to dress up and have their picture taken with Baby Jesus and some animals. Aly got to hold the baby goat and it kept "Baa-ing" at her. It was really cute. At first I thought it was a little kid making the noise at then I realized it was a "kid" just the goat kind. The kids had breakfast (I didn't get any and this pregnant momma could've used some french toast sticks and sausage too), did a craft and watched a puppet show. By the time it was over I was starving so we headed to the new and improved West County Mall for lunch (in the food court, yum) and a little X-mas shopping. Later that evening we went to a Holiday Happy Hour, for parents only, at the dance studio while the girls spent the evening with Grandma (Grandpa was camping with the boy scouts, brrr cold).

Yesterday was a busy church day with services in the morning and then our monthly Super Sunday service last night. It was holiday themed so it was really fun to sing all the X-mas songs. They'll have their X-mas production the week of X-mas so I'm really looking forward to that.

I've been typing the words X-mas all over this blog post today and it reminded me of a funny story from when I was little. My parents divorced when I was one and I had grown up hearing the word "my ex" all the time when my parents would be referring to one another. One year I was at my Dad's for X-mas and he rented a movie for me called "Snow White's Christmas". The sticker on the video read "Snow White's X-mas". So I ended up asking my Dad why Snow White divorced Christmas. Silly huh.

My BIL had a great idea for my sister that a few of the ladies in my family have decided to participate in. He suggested that my sister blog her favorite ornaments everyday from Dec. 1 to X-mas. So I'm going to steal this good idea and participate too!

My first ornament is my "It's A Wonderful Life" ornament. Hallmark put this ornament out in the 90's to commemorate some anniversary of the movie (I'm too lazy to go downstairs to look at what year). This is one of my all time favorite movies. I first saw this movie when I lived with my parents in Nebraska so I was probably about 10 or 11. I sat down and pretended to be really into the movie. The rule was if you were watching the movie you got to stay up past your bedtime. Since it is a really long movie I was all about staying up late! As I watched the movie I actually found myself really enjoying it and it has been a holiday favorite for me ever since. I enjoy collecting "It's A Wonderful Life" commemorative type stuff. On Thanksgiving I was in my parents basement "shopping" for X-mas decorations and I came across an extra "It's A Wonderful Life" snowglobe that they had gotten one year on sale after X-mas. I immediately "put my name on it" and brought it home. It's Martini's bar, it lights up and it plays "Auld Lang Syne". By the way does anyone else like that goofy version of the song by Dan Fogelberg? Here's a sample of the lyrics:

Met my old lover in the grocery store,
The snow was falling Christmas Eve.
I stole behind her in the frozen foods,
And I touched her on the sleeve.

Cheesy huh...but catchy...I love to make fun of this song but enjoy it all at the same time and I've only heard it once this X-mas season.

Baby Update

I went in for my 12 week appointment today and got to hear the baby's heartbeat. I had a hard time picking it up since mine was so loud but when I concentrated on what the doc said I finally heard it. Honestly, I was so spoiled by being a patient of Dr. Penney's, ultrasounds every 2 to 3 weeks, that the first time I really heard Aly & Ashley's heartbeat was when I was hooked up to the monitors in the hospital getting ready to deliver.

My new doctor is so nice. I really like him. He's the chief of obgyn at the hospital so other people must like him too. Since Dr. Penney had been delivering babies for 50 years my criteria for finding a doc was that it had to be someone who was seasoned and experienced.

Back to the baby. Everything is progressing along perfectly. I get to go off most of my medication. I had been taking 10 different pills and supplements everyday. Now I'm down to my prenatal vitamin with DHA and a baby aspirin. I'm really excited and so is my wallet! I was spending over $100 per month in medication after my co-pays.

I've gained 3 pounds since my last appointment, doc thought that was fine especially since it was Thanksgiving. He made me get a flu shot, my first one ever, and they drew lots of blood. I go back in 4 weeks, December 30th, for measuring and more fun. At that appointment we will schedule the BIG appointment which should take place somewhere around January 27th.

Thankful

As the Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close I thought I'd share a few pictures from the past few days. Special thanks to Grandma & Grandpa for the pretty new Christmas Dresses...the girls were a hit at church this morning!

"Betty" Helps Trim The Tree

Tonight we trimmed the tree and made treats for Thanksgiving. Aly is our very own Betty Crocker!

Making Nice and Movies

On Thursday morning before the whole chicken stealing incident the girls and I stopped by Gymboree to check my schedule and to check out clothes (every line is my favorite right now). It was pretty busy when I was in there and one of the customers was a former enemy of mine from high school. Nice huh.

She had come in with her new baby about 6-8 weeks ago. I helped her but pretended like I didn't know her and that she was just another customer. Since we just moved back here I've been enjoying using the "we just moved here" card and I look a lot different than I did in high school. While I was in on Thursday I went up to her and said "let me take a peek at your little one, I want to see how much she's grown since the last time I helped you". As we were talking she goes "We went to high school together". I said "my name is Jenn", to which of course she responded "me too". Then I said "yeah, we hated each other in high school" and she says "it was all because of so and so (this guy she dated that she thought I was trying to put the moves on but him and I were just friends)". One day during high school she even had me called to the guidance counselors office because she was so devestated that I had been out with him over the weekend (even though they were broken up and technically I was with several people during that outing...he just happened to be one of them).

We laughed about the past and then I said "so I guess you didn't end up marrying so and so". And she said "no, thank God". So after 12 years (has it really been that long) we made nice. I even told her she should get a part-time job at Gymbo just to get out of the house and because it's really fun!

Last night we surprised the girls and took them on a "date". They usually go to Grandma & Grandpa's when we go on a date so they were thrilled to be experiencing "date night" with us. We went to see the new Disney movie, BOLT. It was pretty cute, worth taking your kids to see. I am totally amazed at how expensive the movies have gotten lately. Corey and I went to the Valley last weekend to see 007 during rush hour and it was $9 each (they don't do rush hour on Fridays and Saturdays anymore). Ashley is still free for a couple of more months but they still charged me $20 for Corey, Aly and myself and that is before concessions. I saw this one family of 4 and between their snacks and their tickets they had spent $60 for and hour and a half of entertainment. I read online that during hard economic times the entertainment industry flourishes because people are looking for an escape from reality. With prices like these I believe it.

Stealing Chicken

Yea, you're lucky, two posts in one day. I have this story I have to share. So I am totally peeved right now. The girls and I just got back from Wal-Mart and after spending $258 there the express lane checker pretty much accused me of stealing $1.64 worth of popcorn chicken. I am mad and embarrassed all at the same time.

When the girls and I do big shopping I usually get them a lunchable or something while we are shopping so I don't have to worry about lunch once we get home. It's a big enough job to unload all the crap let alone listen to two girls whining about how hungry they are (even though the eat goldfish all the way through the store).

Today I decide to get them some popcorn chicken and mac & cheese from the deli counter. As I'm in the checkout line this lady and her two preschool age girls were in front of us. Here kids are acting all crazy (of course mine never act crazy in Wal-Mart) and they knock over the popcorn chicken. Well the brilliant inventor who invented the container thought it would be better to create a lid with a hole in the top...I guess for steam to escape but on a day like today I think that's a stupid idea, who cares if it gets soggy, the kids will still eat it. Back to the story, a few pieces fall out so I tell the checker "just go ahead and ring this one up twice and I'll grab another container on my way out".

After I've completely checked out we go to the deli counter and I have my receipt in my hand as proof that I've paid for two. I told the lady working the deli counter what happened, we both laugh, I hand the chicken to Aly to put in the bag and all is merry, right? WRONG! The checker working the express lane yells out in a really snotty voice "Ma'am, did you pay for that". I turned around, looked at her and said "Yes, that's why I have my receipt in my hand, would you like to see it...would you like to see it".

It took everything in me not to go back in there and tell her off. The more I thought about it the more steaming mad I got. In front of a ton of people and my kids she basically accused me of stealing some "finger lickin' good" chicken. Give me a flippin break...like I said before I had just spent $258 if I was going to steal something it darn well better be something better than popcorn chicken.

This is probably not as big of a deal as I'm making it out to be so if any of you out there think I'm making too big of a deal about this we can just blame it on my hormones, I only get nine months to use the "pregnancy card". I guess I'll take my pregnant self downstairs and unload all of these groceries by myself...but not before I enjoy some of the "stolen" chicken.

Thursday's Randomness

One more day til Friday. When I worked I lived for the weekends now everything just seems to run together. The bright spot about the weekends is that we get Corey with us all weekend. It's not like we're staying up late doing anything super exciting though since I usually fall asleep on the couch by about 8pm every night. I've been so incredibly exhausted in the evenings that last night Corey jokingly said "The baby must be growing 'a pair' this week". Little did he realize that if we do have a boy cooking in here this is the week that testosterone and all of that good male stuff kicks in so maybe he's right.

My parents from Texas come in this weekend and will be here through the following weekend so we will be seeing them on and off throughout the next week. I have to work at Gymboree on Saturday evening so I am hoping Corey and the girls will get the tree out and put it up for me while I'm at work and then we can decorate it later in the week. We have some fun traditions while decorating the tree. The girls get 3 presents:

1. Christmas Jammies

2. A new ornament for the tree - my mom did this with us kids when we were living at home and then when we left the "nest" she gave us our box of ornaments for our own tree. I love this idea so I am doing it with my own kids although I think some of those ornaments will be hard to part with.

3. An advent calendar filled with chocolates to countdown the days of til Christmas.

The girls and I stopped by the mall last Friday for a few things and while we were there we saw that Santa had already arrived. We weren't dressed for pictures that day but we did stop by and say hi to Santa. Aly refused to tell him what she wanted because her reasoning was that Santa already knows what she wants. Santa gave them a coloring book and a sign for our Window that says "Santa Stop Here" with lines on the back so that they could write their Christmas wishes down. Aly thinks that if it's on the list she's getting it. Yeah, right. She has her heart set on this dog "Biscuit". It's about $150 and it barks at you, wags its tail, etc. Never mind the fact that we have two real dogs of our own. If any of you remember the big pony (Butterscotch) that was set up at Target last year in the Toy section, well , Biscuit is the same concept. They also have this huge dinosaur for $250 that Ashley thinks she's getting. Sorry but I don't have the space to waste or money to blow and things like this. If it were up to Corey the girls would be getting contributions to their 529's from us and that's it. Sometimes he forgets what it's like to be a kid...did he want a contribution to his college fund when he was 4 and 2? I doubt it.

In closing for today I want you guys to tell me about some of your Christmas traditions.

Not Snot

In response to Mom's comment I switched the family pic from my sister's wedding. No, that wasn't snot on Aly's nose...Jess said there was something on her lens that she would have to photoshop out.

Fa-la-la-la-la

Tis the season...I'm starting to get in a real Christmas-sy spirit. While the girls were with Corey's Mom and Dad this past weekend we went and saw the new 007 movie. It was pretty good although I thought the last one was better. We came home after that so Corey could do his "hour" of work...well the hour turned into six hours and we didn't end up going to bed until 2am. While Corey was working I took advantage of the time and got caught up on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Making the Team and wrapped the girls Christmas presents.

I'm still really struggling with wanting to go back to work full time. I thoroughly enjoy the girls but I am much more career oriented and goal focused than I once thought. I will definitely go back at some point I just have a lot of criteria for the job to meet once I do decide to go back. As Hannah Montana says I want the "Best of Both Worlds". Who knows...my tune may change once the new baby gets here...at least for a little bit.

I'm hoping my "blue funk" of a mood will turn around soon. Maybe it's just all of these extra hormones that are making me feel so up and down all of the time. All I know is I am ready to feel like myself again. On the other hand, we do have some circumstances going on right now that are a little bit out of our control and not being in control is definitely something that I do not like. Pretty much my standard answer when anyone asks if they can get me anything I say "June".

On the bright side, here is a great family picture that my sister took at "my other sister's" wedding (see Jess, now Lulu is "the other sister"). With an adoring husband, two beautiful girls and a new baby on the way I have much to be thankful for!

Week In Review

The wedding was great, the car ride to Texas and back was a little taxing but all in all it was great trip! We had so much fun spending time with everyone and celebrating Les & Lou's wedding.

It was over all too quick and by Monday it was back to reality. It's been a pretty busy week this week as we've been dealing with one of our investment properties and the drama that surrounds that. God is faithful...I just need to remember that...sometimes it's hard when you're going through it though.

Hopefully I'll have some fun and interesting things to post soon. I kind of feel as though I am in a holding pattern right now waiting for some things to come to fruition and to see how God is going to work all of this out.

We get to have a "date night" Saturday night, the girls are going to stay with Corey's parents for the night so that should be fun but Corey has to work. From home and not til 8pm but it still kind of puts a damper on it.

Am I a ball of sunshine today or what? It's time for me to put my IPOD on, listen to some praise and worship and clean the house...and pray for a renewed spirit and attitude...I'd gladly welcome any prayers from any of you!

Last One!!

We are headed to Dallas early tomorrow for our last wedding of the year! Yea! We have gone to so many weddings this year it's starting to get ridiculous. But...this one's the most special to me since it's my baby sister's.

I've got so much to do and what I am I doing...procrastinating and blogging. Actually, I'm waiting on laundry, fun, fun! The dresses have been cleaned and they are ready to go, all three of us girls are in the wedding. Thankfully my dress still fits. We wore these same dresses for my other sister's wedding (My Juicy Couture...she's not the like the sister in the movie "My Other Sister") and fortunately it was a size bigger than what I had been wearing before I got preggo so at least I'll have some breathing room.

Here's to you baby girl...and Les"ter"! Love you guys! Can't wait!

Cute Comments

The girls have had a couple of cute comments for us these last few days so I thought I'd share.

I was talking with Ashley the other night about the baby:

Me: "Ashley, pretty soon you'll get to feel "baby Joel" kick me inside my belly!"

Ashley: "And he will be spanked."

Aly was watching Corey get ready for work today and the conversation went like this:

Aly: "Daddy, where are you going?"

Corey: "To work, where are you going?"

Aly: "Shopping...boys work and girls shop."

I was in the other room cracking up...I don't know where she came up with that one from, I promise, it wasn't me! Must be women's intuition.

Drama, Drama, Drama

Happy November and hurray for daylight savings time...even though I'm up way to early! Last week was kind of a ridiculous week with a lot of working at the beginning of the week for Corey and then we started our Halloween out with a little baby drama mixed with some duplex drama.

The baby drama cleared itself up almost immediately after it started. I met my new doctor, he did an ultrasound and everything is perfect and progressing along just fine. I had a small subchorionic bleed in my uterus which causes on and off spotting...no big deal, right, I spotted my whole first trimester with Aly and then had a textbook pregnancy with Ashley so just about everything is "normal" for me during pregnancy. But when I woke up Friday morning there was a little more spotting than I was comfortable with, but just as soon as I noticed it, it went away. When the doc did the ultrasound he said it appeared to be "bleeding out" which means going away. Usually these small bleeds correct themselves and that's exactly what mine is doing. Praise God...I never doubted Him, I just love that God gives me extra opportunity for reassurance.

The duplex drama on the other hand continues and I really don't care to discuss it! I will say if I never have to hear the word "tenant" again I would be so happy! All I can say is thank God that He supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus!

Beyond the drama, the weekend turned out to be a great one. We headed over to Dad & Jamie's on Friday night for "Pigs in a Blanket" and Mac & Cheese before we went around the neighborhood with the girls to collect all of their "booty". I didn't get as many good pics I would like, the girls were a bit uncooperative. This was their first year to "Trick or Treat" and I think they were way too excited about getting out there than to pose for a picture...or five. We then met up with Corey's parents at their church for their Fall Festival. It was really nice but by the time we got there I had a splitting headache and wasn't feeling well at all so it was a little difficult for me to muster through the rest of the nights' events but I made it. With two little kids at home this 3rd time around pregnancy thing feels like it can really whip your butt at times! I am anxiously awaiting the 2nd trimester.

We went to a "country" wedding on Saturday. It was extremely simple but nice. The bride and groom were so happy and that's all that mattered. The could have cared less about having an actual wedding, the were ready to go to the courthouse but I guess the bride's mom insisted on it.

Yesterday was a church filled day. Corey and I are finally starting to get plugged into our new church and meet people. We are both working in children's ministry, I am developing and teaching curriculum to the 3-4 year olds and he is working with the 5-11 year olds doing skits and just helping out wherever needed. The church seems like it gets bigger every week. Just a few years ago they were a church of about 300 and at our Super Sunday service last night I think someone said we had 4,000 come through the doors of both campuses that morning. On the first Sunday of the month the church brings both campuses together for a Super Sunday service in the evenings. It's amazing to see what God has done with this church in just a short amount of time. They had over 1200 kids sign up for the Faith Fest (Halloween celebration) Friday night. I think because of all the kids that showed up Friday night we really packed them out on Sunday. I had over 40 3-4 year olds in my class yesterday for the 10:15 service...that's only in one service, they have two other services at the Central campus on Sunday mornings. Corey said that there were 137 kids in the 5-11 year old class that he did yesterday morning. It's a bit overwhelming at times but we feel really excited and blessed to be a part of something bigger than us.

So what's on tap for this week? I have a "scheduled" doctors appointment today. Lots of errands between now and Wednesday. We leave super early Thursday morning for Texas. My baby sister gets married this Friday. Enjoy the few pics I was able to get of the girlies in their Halloween costumes!

Check It Out

Check out our new little "widget". Mom thought it would be a good idea to put this on my blog. So here's a picture of your "little widget", Mom.

Pumpkin Masters...Ugh, Not Really

Tonight we carved our pumpkins and let me just say that we have a new found respect for the original "Pumpkin Masters", that would be my parents in Texas. I think this is the first time that Corey and I have carved pumpkins together. I know it was the first time that the girls carved pumpkins.

I sent Corey and the girls out one night a couple of weeks ago to get the pumpkins. I picked up the candles and the "pumpkin masters" kit and we were ready to go. We were going to carve Disney Princesses but then we decided to try out the patterns in the book.

Eye-yi-yi, it was tough. Ashley chose a spider with a web, as you can see from the pictures she got a smiley faced pumpkin. Aly chose a Cat within a pumpkin...she just got a cat. I was going to make toasted pumpkin seeds but I don't feel like messing with it this year...I was doing good to handle the pumpkin smell without up-chucking! The girls decided they wanted to leave the pumpkins in the house...obviously they have NEVER been pregnant...we'll see how long they last inside. Enjoy the pictures!

Observation Week

Since it's observation week at the dance studio I was able to get some video and pics of the girls during dance class (you'll have to pause my playlist in order to hear the video).

First Picture

Yesterday was our first ultrasound for Baby Number 3. When I saw the heartbeat for the first time, blinking on the screen it brought a tear to my eye. I guess it doesn't really matter if it's your 1st or 3rd the feeling is still the same, incredibly amazing. According to the doctors' calculations I was 6 weeks and 1 day yesterday and I measured exactly 6 weeks and 1 day. That gives us a due date of June 14th.

I'll remain under the care of the specialist for a few more weeks and then I have an appointment to meet my new doctor on November 3rd. It seems as though morning sickness (all day sickness) is kicking in. I haven't thrown up yet but boy am I nauseous. A few weeks ago I was reading one of the blogs that I follow and the girl is in her first trimester of pregnancy and experiencing morning sickness. Me in all of my maternal bliss of just finding out I was pregnant made the comment "morning sickness is a good sign, it means everything is progressing along perfectly". Ha...now a few weeks later I need to keep reminding myself of this and if someone says that to me I might just punch them! Seriously though...I am very thankful to be experiencing this. I did tell Corey this morning that I thought it might be easier to work while you are pregnant rather than stay home with you other children. At least when you are working you don't have to worry about taking care of anyone but yourself during the 8 hour workday. Again...I am thankful for the opportunity to stay home it's just hard work at times.

OK enough whining but I only have 34 more weeks left to use the "pregnancy card".

Festive Fall Picture

Busy Saturday

Holy Moly, what a busy but fun Saturday. We started our day off with a nice bowl of cream of wheat...and coffee...yum. That was followed up by Corey power washing the driveway and me giving the girls baths. Here's a really cute picture I snapped during bath time:

Ashley decided to put on Aly's fuzzy socks and she had them pulled up so that they looked like furry boots. I just love her little butt cheeks in panties!

We then headed to Corey's Aunt & Uncle's house to see their daughter Morgan and meet "Baby Tessa". As you can see from the pictures it was a huge success for my "little mommies". They are going to be awesome when the baby gets here!

Then it was back home so that Corey could seal the driveway. After the chores were done we decided to take the girls to Grafton, IL for Apple Picking at Eckerts. How glad I am to be back in St. Louis so that I can pick apples at Eckerts, it's probably been 8 years since I've been there. We had a blast picking apples, eating funnel cakes and cheesy fries while drinking fresh apple cider! We got 12.5 lbs of apples...good thing because I've been craving them like CrAzY!

So now we are home, the girls are watching Disney Channel but are about the be booted off and forced to watch the latest episode of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Making the Team with me while Corey is in the other room enjoying peace and quiet since he is flipping back and forth between the MIZZOU game and the UFC fight...sounds relaxing!

Snoogle

First of all many thanks to all of you for your really sweet congratulatory comments. It's nice to know that people really read my blog and get excited with us about the things going on in our lives!

Now onto this Snoogle thing. Since there are a few other preggos out there that read my blog I have to do my due diligence and tell you about this amazing sleep aid! I got my Snoogle when I was about 5 months pregnant with Aly. If I would've known how much better I would sleep I would've invested in it sooner. I ended up getting it out of the attic when I was about 3 months pregnant with Ashley and just last night at 5 1/2 weeks Corey went downstairs to fish it out of a Rubbermaid container for me. I put it in the wash this morning and am looking forward to some sweet sleep tonight!

After two kids it is completely amazing how my body already knows what to do...I am already starting to get this nice "beer gut". Corey said he noticed that my hips were already getting wider and that my bum was getting bigger. Wasn't that so sweet and sensitive of him?

Finally!!!

Well I can finally share the good news...we are expecting our third child sometime in early June!

I kept mum on the fertility stuff that we did last month...I figured God had heard mine, Corey and the girls prayers and His timing would be perfect. The treatment was really no big deal just clomid and a shot of ovidrel. Everything progressed along perfectly in my cycle and after 4 pregnancy tests and two blood tests we feel like it's time for you all to know.

We were hesitant on sharing the news because ovidrel can give you a false positive and we wanted to be absolutely positive. We found out the middle of last week and then I had blood and progesterone tests this past Monday and Wednesday. I've actually been to the doc quite a bit this week, three out of the last four days. I've been stuck 4 times at the lab and got a shot of Rhogam today (I'm O- and Corey is B+ so we get to take extra precautions). Really that equates to a little extra TLC from the doctors office which is A-OK with me!

I have strict orders to rest, no heavy lifting and no exercising (darn) for the next few weeks. So that means napping when the girls nap and I don't have to push the vacuum cleaner around...yea!

I have another progesterone test next week and then we go in for our first ultrasound on Monday, October 20th. According to my calculations I will be due around June 12th but I guess they will give us a more definitive date at the first appointment. Currently I am right around 5 weeks...only 35 more to go.

GIRLS ROCK

This past weekend I went the the annual Joyce Meyer Women's Covention in downtown St. Louis. It was a blast. A fun time to get away and hang out with the girls. We stayed at the Hilton Ballpark Hotel. I've stayed there a few times before, it overlooks Busch Stadium! As a St. Louis girl I can totally appreciate such an incredible view! I went to the conference with Corey's Mom, his sister and his 3 cousins.

Unfortunately my MIL had to work the convention so we didn't get to spend as much fun girly time with her as usual. The bright side of her having to work the covention and working for JMM was that she ROCKS and was able to score us some awesome reserve seats!! What does reserve seating mean?? Not having to wait in line with 20,000 other women to get a good seat. Each session we were able to bounce around a little so we enjoyed seats on the floor in the 2nd row, 4th row, 6th row, etc.

Worship was done by Darlene Zschech and Hillsong and it was amazing...Creflo Dollar preached the first night and was on fire! Lisa Bevere preached yesterday morning and I was amazed at her eleoquece, comedy and her merciful gifts, this was only my second time hearing her, first time in person and I am inspired to be even more of a "Nurturer". And then there was Joyce who was awesome...as usual! Special thanks to Corey and Jamie for taking care of the girlies for me!

Enjoy the pics!

Weekend Recap

I'll start with a funny story from yesterday...the girls were watching Back To The Future (again) yesterday morning before church. They get to the part where Doc and Marty are in the mall parking lot testing out the time machine. Aly is laughing at everything that is going on, Marty sees Einstein disappear and says "Holy Sh*!". Aly looks at me, laughs and says "Holy Sh*!s" I start busting up laughing and Corey comes out of the kitchen and "seriously" tries to say "Aly, we don't say that, it's a bad word". I jump up from the couch, run to the kitchen and laugh uncontrollably with Corey out of Aly's sight. It was so innocent...and kind of cute. I never realized how much bad language was in the movie and it's rated PG. Boy, times have changed.

Anyway, we had a fun weekend. Our friends, The DeShon's, came into town on Thursday night to spend a couple of nights with us. The BOYS took the kiddos out so that Laura I could have a day of shopping to ourselves. It was very sweet of them and we enjoyed ourselves. We went down to Historic Main Street St. Charles and at lunch at Miss Aimee B's tea room. It was really fun to do girly stuff and have adult conversation without all of the kids in tow. The BOYS took the kiddos to Whites for lunch and then to the magic house. From the pictures they took it looks like everyone had a blast.

We had a babysitter (Aunt Lisa) for the kiddos on Friday night and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at The Melting Pot...yum!

The rest of the weekend was a pretty lazy one! I was feeling pretty under the weather so we spent alot of time resting and sleeping...and enjoying the NKOTB Behind The Music.

Crappy Halloween Candy

So I want to know what is the crappiest Halloween Candy you ever received. For me it would definitely have to be Necco Wafers...gag...you might as well go eat a container of Tums. At least Tums do not have a black licorice flavor.

I do however love those black and orange peanut butter taffy things (ironically made by the same company that makes Necco Wafers)...I am sure some of you are gagging right now at the thought of those but this is coming from the girl who loves Circus Peanuts and Peeps.

DANGEROUS

I love candy!! Anything that is chewy, gummy, sweet but sour...you get the picture. So on Tuesday after the girls' dance class we headed over Target to peruse the Halloween candy aisles. I've been in pursuit of the giant bag of Twizzlers Pull & Peel licorice. This is the only time if year when you can find green apple pull & peel. I was thrilled to find that my beloved licorice finally made it to the shelf. As I was trying to leave the candy aisle these little gems caught my eye:

Holy moly are these things dangerously addicting. They kind of taste like the Nerd Rope but better! I could've eaten the whole bag by myself but I practiced restraint and saved some for my family. If you haven't tried these get over to Target and get yourself a bag, or ten...you better hurry because I may not have left you any on the shelf!

Bones

When I was 8 months pregnant with Ashley (2 days before Christmas) I ended up in the hospital. I woke up in the middle of the night with excrutiating pain in my back and thought maybe I was in pre-term labor. It turned out to be kidney stones. It was horrible. I had to have an MRI or something like that...they told me that my baby could be exposed to radiation. Great, what every pregnant lady wants to hear. So here I was being wheeled down to the X-Ray room, huge and pregnant with a hospital gown that was open in the back (thank God they let me keep my sweatpants on) and the person who was taking me down kept having to stop at every trash can so that I could puke my guts out not caring that everyone could probably see my "groceries".

After they had done the X-ray or whatever it was called the doctor came upstairs and held up this X-ray film and said "look what we found". It was a picture of Ashley and the doc had typed "Merry Christmas Mom & Dad, I love you" on the slide. Somehow that picture made all of it worth it.

I gave you the background because we have been rearranging things upstairs in the girls' rooms this past week and I have been unpacking their keepsake boxes. Everytime I run across the picture of Ashley I take it out of the envelope and remember that day...fondly. This time I showed it to Ashley. She was terrified at first...then I told her that it was her...I think that scared her even more. We talked about it a little, I told her that was when she was in my belly. I think she likes it now and is proud because she keeps asking me if she can "see her bones".
