Weekend In Review

It's been almost two weeks since my last day of work and I have to say the "stay at home Mom/Wife" lifestyle has been a breeze to get acclimated too. This must be the perfect job for me. The girls and I have been filling our days with playing, learning, shopping, cleaning, working out (me, not them), etc.

I've been working with Aly on her letter, phonics and reading. She is doing great! We went to Ann's Teacher Store last week and bought a chart to help us track how many letters she actually knows and recognizes. Once she can tell me all 26 letters, 5 days in a row she gets a prize. She only has 3 more days left before getting her prize. I will post a picture of her with her "treasure" as soon as we get it. Once we've mastered all of the letters we will start working on the sounds (that's called phonics, right?). She should be reading in no time. Now, if I could just get Ashley to cooperate with me on potty training.

We had a great weekend. Of course the big "kick-off" happened at 5:30 on Friday evening when Daddy walked through the door after a very long week. We enjoyed an evening of hanging out and lounging around. We made Daddy a special surprise too, his Banana Pudding was waiting for him in the fridge when he got home.

We took the girls to church on Saturday for "Super Saturday". This was a special day for the kids to come and have the opportunity to invite their friends for a day of fun and fellowship. Saturday night we went out with Grant and Laura, Corey had planned a birthday dinner at Chris McD's followed by a viewing of "27 Dresses (great date movie). After the movie we went to Starbucks for coffee and great conversation (we had an awesome time Grant & Laura, we love you guys!).

We had an open house yesterday afternoon after church and we actually had someone stop by! Yea!

So what's on tap for this week...hopefully I will have the time (and motivation) to paint the master bathroom (we did some touch up painting and the color was supposed to match but it's not quite right so I need to repaint the entire wall), clean out the filing cabinet, start packing the girls closets, etc. The girls and I are headed to STL tomorrow to spend the day and night with Daddy and look at houses. We've been looking at some new construction in the O'Fallon area and the sales rep called and said they are letting one of their spec homes go for a great price and they will even let us put a contract down contingent upon the sale of this house. We are going to check out the house again, we've looked at so many they are all starting to run together. There is also a new subdivision in Wentzville that we are going to check out, same builder as the houses in O'Fallon so we will see. Both subdivisions are in the Wentzville School District which is where I want the girls, it's kind of hard to believe that we have to start choosing our housing on the school districts! My babies are growing up, I guess it's time for another (right, Grandma?).

Until next time...

The Big 3-0

My 30th birthday was this past Sunday (January 20th) and we had a great weekend! Mom (aka Gigi) came into town to help us celebrate. Corey outdid himself, as usual. What a great husband I have. He's been doing birthday errands with the girls for the past few weekends to make sure everything was perfect for my big day.

Saturday Mom and I enjoyed a girls day out (minus the little girls, Daddy had them busy). We went and looked at log cabins (Mom & Dad are going to build one in the mountains when they retire). We then headed over to my favorite restaurant, The Upper Crust, where Mom treated me to a special birthday lunch. Then it was off to Natural Nail Care Clinic for pedicures. Our final stop was at Culvers for some Reeces Pieces custard (this is my favorite flavor and it was the flavor of the day on Saturday, they must have known it was my birthday weekend).

When we got home Corey had the house all decorated with balloons, banners, red roses. I also got a special delivery from the local florist. Dad & Jamie had a beautiful floral arrangement sent to me. My German Chocolate Cake from The Upper Crust was waiting on the counter for me and Corey even let me open my present from him and the girls a day early...a receipt...for a pair of Uggs (see below).

We went out for a special birthday breakfast at Panera on Sunday before church. I napped for part of the afternoon and then Corey grilled fillets and Mom made twice baked potatoes. We had German Chocolate Cake (again, I couldn't wait so I broke into it after lunch) and I opened presents. I got some cash, boots, gift certificates, a fun leopard print throw and my Omi & Opi sent me a string of pearls complete with a bracelet and earrings to match. All and all turning the big 3-0 was not so bad. I'm just glad I've got another 10 years before I have to psych myself up for the big 4-0!

Birthday Pictures

My New Uggs!

I've been giving Corey "not so subtle" hints about these Uggs for about a month now. Imagine my surprise when I found out that my "Sweetie" got me these for my birthday! The only problem...they are on BACKORDER, ugh...I mean "ugg"! They are supposed to be here by 2/10/2008, keep your fingers crossed!

"Aly-Marine"

Aly's new favorite movie is "Aquamarine". I snapped a few pictures of Aly this afternoon pretending to be "Aquamarine". In the movie Aqua wears a dress similar to the one Aly has on so when she dug this little number out of her toy box her transformation to a mermaid was complete.

Last Day at Lisa's

Yesterday was Aly & Ashley's last day of daycare. Here we are giving Lisa a special present from Tiffany & Co. We picked out a sterling sliver necklace that had two mini heart tags on it, the two heart tags were to remind Lisa of each girl. You should hear the way Aly says "Tiffany's", it's so cute. Since learning is so important to Corey, part of our stay-at-home cirruculum will be training Aly and Ashley about the finer things at an early age. Tomorrow we will work on "Louis Vuitton". Daddy, we can't wait until our next trip to "Plaza Frontenac". Just Kidding!

Yea, Bridal Shower!

Today I helped host a bridal shower for my lovely friend Sarah B! We had so much fun and the fellowship hall looked beautiful. Sarah got a lot (and I mean a lot) of great gifts! Her Daddy even sent a special gift for her wrapped in "Disney Princess" paper for his "Princess". It was very sweet. We have her personal shower in a few weeks so enjoy these pictures because I'm not sure how many pictures will be able to post from her next "shindig".

Update

Alright for all of the grandparents reading, here goes...for everyone else reading...sorry!

I took Al back to the doc this afternoon, she still had a fever (the highest it's been) and she had a little bacteria in her urine (their sending it to the lab and if there is anything to be concerned about we will know Monday). I can't believe how long it is going to take to get the results back! Seriously, if a child did have a UTI I would think that you wouldn't want to wait four days to treat it, give me a break. Literally, all the moms would need a break after dealing with a kid for four days with no antibiotics for a UTI. Al also had fluid in her ear so it's a good thing she's already on drugs, it would be nice if they would start kicking in.

It's time for me to "hit the sack". Sweet dreams!

Still Not Up To Snuff

We didn't make it to STL last night...Daddy came to us! The girls were in no position to do the hour and a half car trip and then be paraded all over the "big city". Daddy got home about 5:30 pm (not too bad, good thing he is at MasterCard and not Monsanto. Since MasterCard is closer to Hwy 40, he can make it in an hour and twenty minutes).

I went and picked up dinner and brought it back home (Buckinghams, nobody beats their BBQ) and then we played this enormous game of CandyLand. Grandma & Grandpa got the girls this game for X-mas, it has giant gingerbread men pieces and the game board is a big rug that you spread out on the floor. If the girls hadn't been feeling so puny I would've taken a picture but they wouldn't even let me comb their hair yesterday. It was so nice to sleep with Corey right next to me, I definitely stay warmer. It's great sleeping with Aly but she doesn't generate as much body heat. Although at about 4am we got a lovely treat...Aly in bed with us. Complaining that she had to "pee" and her throat hurt. She probably got up to pee about 5 times within an hour. She did this to me the night before last too, if she does it again tonight she is going back to the doctor. I'm starting to wonder if she has a Urinary Tract Infection. I sure hope not. I think dance and Tumblebees starts again tonight but unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to go.

We've got a busy weekend planned this weekend. A bridal shower for Sarah B, an open house on Sunday and a lot of catching up with Daddy.

Sick

Both of my "ladybugs" are sick! Ugh, and Daddy's out of town. The both have had fevers and we were up pretty much every hour through the night. We will be headed to the doctor this morning. Hopefully we will be feeling well enough to go see Daddy tonight! PRAYERS PLEASE!

Holding Down The Fort

So that's me, I'm holding down the fort. Corey starts his new job at MasterCard today. He has probably not even backed out of the driveway yet and I'm already sniffling. The girls and I are not used to him being on "business trips". The only time he has been away from us since the girls have been born is when he went on his Dad's 50th Birthday Fishing Trip this past May. Aly kind of understands, she knows that she gets to sleep with me until Dad gets back home this Friday. The sleeping with me thing is more for me than for her, I will sleep better with her in bed with me (I found this out after one night while Corey was away on the fishing trip).

I know we'll do fine. It's only four nights. Some people do this for their job on a regular basis. This is only temporary. The girls and I are planning to go to STL on Wednesday or Thursday to have dinner with him. I'm sure this will become a weekly ritual until we move. I only have 7 working days left, next Tuesday, January 15th will be my last day!

Happy Monday, say some prayers for all of us!
