About the "Iron In The Fire"

So last week I alluded to the fact that I have an "iron in the fire" and now I'm ready to share.

Since quiting my full time job in January I have struggled with wanting to go back to work. Crazy I know since my husband has afforded me the luxury of staying home with the girls. The first 7 months were no big deal. I definately felt like my place was at home with the girls during our transition. But it seemed like as soon as we got our roots planted here I started to struggling with feeling unproductive, like I wasn't contributing, etc. Don't get me wrong I know that I am contributing to the girls and it's not a responsibility that I take lightly but I just felt like I needed more.

The Sunday before we left for Canada I told Corey I felt like I didn't have a reason to get up in the morning and that I had nothing to look forward to, mind you, we were going on vacation in five days. So we agreed to discuss it more after vacation. We returned from vacation and I just couldn't shake the feeling of wanting to go back to work full time. It got to the point where I told Corey that we needed to have weekly meetings to discuss my goals and objectives for the upcoming week. He seriously looked at me and said "you need to do something, I don't care if it's Mother's Day Out program or whatever, but find something". So I went on a couple of job interviews, one part time and one full time. The part time job would've been ok but it was doing some non-profit fundraising and I told Corey the thought of fundraising right now makes me want to throw up since I did it for the past 6 years. The full time job was actually the company that Corey did contract work for but I just didn't feel at peace about it. So do you want to know what I do feel at peace about...drumroll please...working part time at Gymboree.

So I did it, after I left the full time job interview last Monday I stopped at the brand new Gymboree in the brand new shopping center right down the street from our brand new house (do you think I like "new" things?). I came home, emailed the two companies I interviewed with and told them "thanks but no thanks" and waited for a call from Gymboree. Anyway Gymboree offered me a job that pays about three times less than the non-profit fundraising job would've paid but I am so excited about it! I'll be working 6-12 hours a week, get 40% off, have the opportunity to see all the new stuff first and have conversation with my peers that does not involve Hannah Montanna, Camp Rock or the Jo Bros!

The new shopping center is The Meadows at Lake St. Louis and it opened this past Saturday. It's all outdoors and it's owned by the same people that own the fancy schmancy Plaza Frontenac. Frontenac is the only place in town that has a Tiffany & Co and a Louis Vuitton. So The Meadows is a little more upscale than your average mall. Perfect for me!

Besides my "iron in the fire" we are hoping for a little something "in the oven". As I mentioned before we are trying something different this month and I had to go into the doc today for a test. The good news is everything looks perfect, with me and Corey. Honestly, there is no good reason for us not to be pregnant except for the fact that maybe we've had poor timing the last 6 months. I am really starting to think that it's just a luteal phase defect and the progesterone that I have taken and will take will take care of that. Of course this is my own self diagnosis but whatever.

The Butterfly House

I wanted to do something fun, out of our normal routine with the girls this week. I was inspired by looking at my friend's blog to take the girls to the Butterfly House. We had a great time and I even got them to pose for a few pics. Jess - this might make a good photo shoot location, we'll have to check it out the next time you are in town!

Babies, India & More

That's what's been going on in our lives the past week. I'll start with India. When Corey went back to work after vacation last week his boss approached him about going to India in October, yes that's right India, not Indiana. Evidentally Corey is super good at what he does and his company wants to send him there to train some of their offshore people. I'm sure as he reads this he won't be very happy that I am "tooting his horn" for him but somebody's got to do it because he surely won't. So Corey heads off to India on October 17th for a week. Yesterday he was asked to stay for two weeks...ugh, the wife says no, one week is long enough! Actually I'm really proud of him for this opportunity. He only went FTE with the company 3 weeks before they asked him to go and one of those weeks we were on vacation.

Now on to babies...we met with the fertility specialist here in St. Louis yesterday. He was a really nice guy. We are too late to do clomid and IUI this cycle so we are going to try something else...I'll spare you the details. Depending on what happens will determine whether or not we'll do IUI next month. What's going to have to happen is that there is going to have to be a baby cooking, if there is no baby cooking then it's on to IUI.

The girls are doing good, Aly starts dance next week. As soon as Ashy B starts going potty like a big girl she can take dance too. At the rate we are going she might have to wait until next fall. She's a stubborn little thing, it's not that she can't do it, she won't do it. She screams and throws herself on the floor every time you mention it.

We've been visiting a really great church here. I am hoping that this will be the church for us. We are headed there tonight for our 3rd service. We will be visiting one more church this weekend and then we will make our final decision. I'm ready to make a decision and get rooted and grounded. I'll divulge more information once we make our decision.

That's about it, I've got a few "irons in the fire" and hopefully I'll have some news to share later this week...until then.

I love this pic that my Mom snapped of my baby sister and me while on vacation.

Stitches, Eh...

We made it home from Canada about 7am on Sunday morning. We decided to leave about 14 hours earlier than orginally planned and drive straight through the night. We figured an overnight trip would be much easier on the girls and less stressful for us. The girls watched one movie and then slept from 9:30 at night until we pulled into our driveway the next morning...perfect, eh.

Oh, how do you like my new habit, eh? Anyway, the trip was great, you can check out my mom's blog for additional pictures. On our 4th day in Canada Ashy B decided to show off for Uncle Chaz and she ended up busting her head open on the fireplace. Corey went and got the on-site paramedic and she confirmed that Ash would need stitches. So we got ready, drove and hour north to the hospital in Kenora Canada. After 4 hours in the ER, Ash finally had 3 stitches and an orange popscicle. The stitches came out today...thanks to our resident nurse "cousin Katie". Enjoy the picture documentation!

What Time Is It?

Summertime, it's our vacation...if you know anything about High School Musical then I bet you're singing this song right now.

Anyway at 5:00pm today we hit the road for our long anticipated vacation to Canada (and when I say long I mean long...we've been planning this trip for a little over 2 years...plus it'll be about a 15 hour drive...15 hours if we don't have to stop too much).

We'll catch up with you all around August 11th...

(singing)...What time is it? Party time. That's right, say it loud. What time is it? The time of our lives. Anticipation...

Oops, sorry...are you still reading this?
