EMBARASSING!

I cannot believe I am actually going to admit this. By telling this story I have given up my right to tease Corey about his " women's restroom" escapade in Puerto Vallarta. So here goes...

I had some extra time in between appointments today so I decided to run into Kohl's to look for a couple of things. I picked out what I was looking for, made my purchase and then decided that I better use the restroom before heading to the next appointment. At this point I know you already have an idea of what happened next.

I go into the bathroom, take care of business, wash and dry my hands and as I am walking out I look up and see not one but two urinals! For a split, we are talking split, second I thought "what the heck are urinals doing in the women's restroom?" It was at that time I realized I had just used the men's restroom, GROSS!

Thankfully there was no one else in there, I cannot imagine the look that would have been on my and anyone else's face if there was actually someone standing at the urinal. I quickly exited the restroom and as I was walking out this lady comes walking out of the family restroom and kind of gives me a funny look. I just put on my best game face, held my head high with my shoulders back and walked confidently out of the store.

Help Us Fight Heart Disease & Stroke

The 12th Annual Columbia Heart Walk is next weekend and I would like to encourage all of you to help support my team and our fundraising efforts. Funds raised through events such as the Heart Walk have led to multiple medical advancements including pacemakers & CPR. Do you know anyone who has a pacemaker? Do you know of someone who has performed CPR? These advancements would not be available without the support of many generous people.

My grandparents, Omi and Opi are both heart survivors. Omi has a pacemaker and Opi had to have by-pass surgery a few years ago after he suffered a major heart attack. My grandparents are very special to me and I feel so very blessed that even my girls have the opportunity to know their great-grandparents. In fact, we are meeting them for lunch today and Aly is bouncing off the walls because she can't wait to go to St. Louis to see Omi & Opi.

My Gram was a two-time stroke survivor. Unfortunately she passed away about a year and a half ago but not before she got the opportunity to meet her second great-granddaughter, Ashley. As I was growing up, Gram was always there for me with a hug, advice or just a listening ear. I think of her just about everyday and I can hear her voice in my head as to the comment she would have regarding any and every situation. Gram was an amazingly strong woman whom I admired and respected greatly. She helped to mold me into the person I am today.

In my opinion, grandparents are one of the greatest generations of people who will ever impact your life. When you are younger, they are cooler than parents because "they get it". They love to spoil you and shower you with unconditional love and affection (I'm not going to lie, the presents are nice too!). When you become an adult you realize how much wisdom they actually have and it's at that time too that you also realize just how valuable time spent with them really is because you don't know how much time you have.

It is so important to me that we keep making medical advancements as it relates to stroke and cardiovascular disease. My girls simply adore all of their grandparents and I want them to be able to make life-long memories with their grandparents as I have made and continue to make with mine. So here's to my grandparents, we are walking in memory of Gram and in honor of Omi & Opi. Here's also to my parents (all of them) for loving my girls completely and unconditionally. One of the greatest things that I have experienced as an adult is watching my parents interact with my children. Now that my parents are grandparents I realize that "they get it too".

If you would like to make a donation to the Columbia Heart Walk you can go to:https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=220847&lis=1&kntae220847=B1354ABD71314748A17205B129DA9F1D&supId=130478689

If you are not comfortable making a donation on-line feel free to make your checks payable to AHA and send them to our house directly. I will divide the donation amongst our family and turn it in to our local office. Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts, your donation is truly appreciated. As you can see from up above, your donation has truly made a difference in our lives.

He Thinks He Is So Funny

I hesitated to post this because I didn't want to offend anyone but then I thought, there are only a couple of people who read my blog anyway so what the heck. I must preface this by saying, please do not take offense, it's all in good husband and wife fun.

So last night Corey is playing with the girlies and the phone rings. I answer it, it was a solicitor so I tell them I am not interested and hang up. Corey comes into the living room and says, "Who was on the phone"?. I said "Special Olympics", then Corey says "we're they calling to see if you were going to be able to compete this year"? Ha Ha. Very funny.

I do have to admit, that was a pretty good one so I'll let Corey have it this time, I mean he so rarely comes up with something funny to say anyway, I don't want to burst his comedic bubble.

Best Friends

Happy Monday!

Well, another week begins. Last week was crazy busy! Aly had a great time at Maw Maw and Paw Paw's. She spent alot of time at the pool and at Six Flags. Ashley missed Aly and me bunches and had a hard time letting us out of her sight once we were all finally together again. Corey, Ashley and I came into St. Louis Friday afternoon to celebrate birthdays, pick up Aly and go to a St. Louis Cardinals game. On our way to STL the check transmission light came on in the Taurus. Guess what? We got to leave the car in St. Louis and we are getting a new transmission, woo hoo. It should be covered by the extended warranty so that is a big reason to celebrate.

So I have another Aly story for all of you. Aly loves to watch "The Wizard of Oz" (she comes by that honestly). She insisted on taking her movie to Maw Maw & Paw Paw's house last week. She was all set to watch it her first morning there and when they opened the case the movie wasn't there - we left it in the DVD player in Columbia. She had a mini "meltdown" so they called Alex and asked her bring her copy over to Maw Maw and Paw Paw's on Thursday night. I am sure they watched it multiple times before we got there Friday evening. So Friday night I am getting Aly ready for bed and she looks at me and says, "Mom... am I going to melt"? I just laughed and said, "No, you are not going to melt". And Aly says, "that's because God takes care of us, right"? It's true, kids say the funniest things! I'm loving it!!

Lazy Weekend!

It's been really nice to enjoy a relaxing weekend! It seems like we so rarely have those. Friday night we took the girls to a surprise 50th Birthday Party for a lady at our church (we should have gotten a sitter for the girls, it would've been much more enjoyable, for all of us. Where's Grandma when you need her? Oh that's right, she's in St. Louis. How fast can we move there?).

Saturday morning we got up a piddled around a little bit and then took Aly & Ashley out for their "surprise". We told Aly to guess where we were going she gave us all kinds of answers from Target to Six Flags. We ended up at Chuck E. Cheese. We spent about an hour there and had the whole place to ourselves. It' such a joy to watch the girls enjoy themselves so much. We ended up going to Chevy's for dinner and then came home and watched a movie that we netflixed, "The Good Sheperd" with Matt Damon. Good movie. I've come to the conculsion that I really enjoy movies that are set in the WWII era.

We spent today at church, napping, making cookies and at the pool. We've got a busy week coming up. Aly and I are headed to St. Louis Tuesday night. Aly will be spending a few days with her MawMaw and PawPaw. She will be going to the pool, Six Flags and just being loved on and spoiled. I leave for Chicago early Wednesday morning for a work conference and will return Thursday evening. Corey and Ash will hold the fort down in Columbia. I'll travel back to Columbia Thursday night and then Corey, Ashee and I will go to St. Louis on Friday to pick up Al, celebrate birthdays and go to a St. Louis Cardinal game (and look at houses, yea - this part was added just for you "Grandma"). This coming weekend is more like the weekends we are used to, BUSY!

Well ta ta for now, time to rest and get geared up for the upcoming week.

A-L-Y Spells Aly

Okay, this blog thing is a little addicting. I've only had this created for about an hour and a half and have already done three posts, maybe I need to get my life back, haha!

Anyway I have a funny story about Miss Aly-Cat to share with everyone. The other day she picked up my "fill-it ins" puzzle book off of the table and asked me for a pencil. So here goes the conversation:
Aly: "Mom, can I have a pencil?"
Mommy: "Why do you need a pencil"?
Aly: "So I can write on this book".
Mommy: "Aly, that's Mommy's game, besides, you don't know how to spell, you need to know ho w to spell before you can play that".
Aly: Mom... (picture an exasperated 3 year old rolling her eyes with her hand on her hip) A-L-Y spells Aly".

I just laughed and said, "you're right, you can spell, you got me on a technicality"!

Do I really have time for this?

So it's always been a standard joke between my lovely mommy and I that I don't have a blog, don't respond to the "ALL About Me" surveys because...I HAVE A LIFE. Well I am going to give this blogging thing a try after all I am planning to be a stay at home Mommy by next summer. I should have plenty of time to keep everyone up to date about the daily goings on of being the Mommy of two little girlies, right?

What is a Haute Couture Mommy?

Haute Couture = Highly Fashionable

Mommy = do you really need a definition for this?

Highly Fashionable + Mommy = Highly Fashionable Mommy
