Weekend Recap

Aly got up early this morning to see her Daddy off to work and for a little "Coffee Talk" with him. Corey and I had a date night on Saturday night and after we had dinner we stopped at Starbucks for some coffee before heading off to the movies. Starbucks had little coffee cups on clearance and I thought they were the perfect size for the girls so of course I picked them up for them. The girls are constantly trying to drink my coffee so they think they are really big stuff now that they have their own coffee cups. Aly sat down at the table this morning with her "coffee" (a smidgen of coffee lots of cream and milk) and said "so Daddy, what do you want to talk about". It was so cute I had to get a picture to capture the very sweet moment!

As I mentioned above Corey and I had a date night this weekend. We try to get a sitter at least once a month so we can go out and enjoy a nice relaxed dinner and a movie, Saturday was no exception. We attended a wedding on Saturday afternoon and then Kimmy came over about 5pm and spent the evening with the girls.

We went to CiCi City Broiler for dinner, they have the best salad! It's so unique, when I go to a restaurant for the dinner salad you know if must be good. There are very few salads that I like but this is one of them! After dinner we stopped by Starbucks and then we were off to the movies to see "21". AWESOME MOVIE!! It's about a group of college students from MIT who go to Vegas on the weekends to "count cards". I will definitely see this movie again. After we came home we stayed up late to finish watching "Dan In Real Life". Very good movie but I didn't think it was as fantastic as my Mom hyped it up to be. Probably because she understands what it is like having three daughters, two of which were teenagers and I'm not there yet and I plan on having a boy next!

The girls and I are off to STL in the morning for Aly's dance class and then we are meeting with our realtor late tomorrow afternoon to look at houses. We had an offer on the house last week, we countered the offer and the potential buyer decided not to pursue it ... at least for now, our realtor is working on getting the scoop as to why. We did however have an unexpected, fantastic showing on Saturday morning and I expect this couple to make an offer this week. Things are rolling and we should all be together in STL very soon!

Stranded at the drive-in...

Think John Travolta in Grease. Seriously, the girls and I are stranded at home. A couple of weeks ago Corey had an accident and we had to get a rental car. Our car should be finished sometime today so he came home last night and when he left this morning he left the rental car here with me...but he took the keys to STL with him. So as an added bonus, Corey will be coming home this evening with the keys. Even if my car is finished today the car seats are locked in the rental car so it does me absolutely no good. Oh yeah and the rental car company has a spare set but they are their admin office...in Wichita, KS.

Since we are stranded, I had the opportunity to watch a few of the performances from American Idol that I recorded last night. I think David Cook should win; dude, he rocked it out with his version of Billie Jean plus he's from the Show Me State. I also like Carly Smithson, for me it's between those two.

Tease

My sister is teasing us with a few of the photos she did while the girls and I were in Texas. She is so talented! Click on the link below and check them out. Enjoy!

Texas, Here We Come!

Our journey to Texas started at about 4:15 am yesterday morning. Corey got the little ladies and I to the airport and helped us check our baggage so that we would be ready for 7:05 am takeoff. The girls did pretty good on the flight, Ash had a little meltdown at one point because the flight attendant was making her keep her seat belt on and she wasn't very happy about that. Other than that, everything went really well considering I was traveling with a 2 & 4 year old

Mom and Auntie Lou were waiting for us at baggage claim, we got all of our stuff and then loaded up the car, met up with Aunt Jessie and her girlies (on the side of the road) and then headed to the Fort Worth Zoo. We had a fun day at the zoo, the weather was beautiful, probably the best zoo weather I have ever experienced.

After the zoo, we all headed back to Gigi & Grampy's house for relaxation and family time. We enjoyed an evening of pizza, American Idol, Auntie Lou trying on her gorgeous wedding gown (she looked so beautiful practicing for us I can't imagine what it's going to be like in October when she actually gets married), meeting Uncle Les, Opening presents from Auntie Lou (she loves to spoil her girls), wrestling with Uncle Chaz and Grampy...you get the picture, it was a busy but fun night. The girls and I crashed, hard, at about 9pm.

Today we'll head to Aunt Jessie's and Uncle Steven's house. Aunt Jessie is going to photograph the four girls in her studio. I bought them all coordinating outfits from Gymboree so they should look pretty cute. We'll spend the day doing "girl stuff". Uncle Chaz is coming with so he will be the only guy out of all 8 of us girls, if only all guys could be as lucky as him!

Blarney - Go with it, it's St. Patrick's Day!

So Mom tagged me for a meme, whatever that is. It's the first time I've been tagged. Since we are leaving for STL tomorrow and Dallas on Wednesday I am going to be a spoiler and not do the meme. I don't have time to think of 8 things about me that my readers don't know, besides I have too much laundry and packing to do so that we can hit the road at 6am sharp (when Corey has to be somewhere you leave "sharp")tomorrow morning.

I read Mom's meme on her blog and thought #8 on Mom's list was a fun fact to share with all of you about our family:

8) I have been to Graceland, Big deal right? Nope. I went when Elvis was still alive!! He and my father met when they were both stationed in Germany while in the Army. This is where my father met my mother as well. My mother met Elvis while working in a store in town. He would come in and shop and she waited on him (he also gave her his autograph.) While we were in West Memphis visiting my aunt & uncle, we went to Graceland to see Elvis! He had told my folks to stop by any time they were in town visiting my dad's brother and his wife!

Happy St. Patty's Day to you!

Spoiled

I'm spoiling you all with a few new posts since the girlies and I will be in STL and Texas most of next week. Today we took all three girls to see "College Roadtrip". As we were turning into the movie theater I told Corey "I'm ready for an Adult Movie". He just laughed and said "you know we don't watch those anymore". He was totally kidding! I meant an adult movie like "Dan In Real Life" - which we just netflixed, not an ADULT MOVIE. After listening to HM 24/7, going to see College Roadtrip and downloading all of the HM songs to my IPOD for Aly I think I need some adult time.

Since I was downloading HM onto my IPOD I decided to finally take dominion over it. I haven't synced my IPOD since we got our new computer because I was afraid I might loose some of my beloved workout songs. You know, Baby Got Back, Rumpshaker, Now That We Found Love, Shook Me All Night Long, etc. During the "dominion" process I did loose some of my songs (it's all Corey's fault, he didn't bring my entire music library over to the new computer, just part of it) so I decided to dig out some of my old cd's and download them.

My parents are huge music buffs so my siblings and I have an appreciation for all types of music. Today I downloaded Gin Blossoms, Chicago, REO Speedwagon, Toto, NKOTB, Journey, The Police - most of these are greatest hits. Who knows, maybe I'll go crazy and download a little JD - just for you Mom! Never mind, I am a fine wife but I don't have a fiddle, the sun's not comin' up - it's night, no cakes on the griddle either, at times life can be a funny riddle but thank God I'm not a country girl - well except when it comes to beef, it's what's for dinner! So sorry if the rest of you don't understand this but I know Mom & my chicas will!

To quote a line from my sis "Peace and Chicken Grease"!

Do they really care?

Yesterday the girls and I ran into Target to pick up a few things. One of the things on our list was a stainless steel or brushed nickel hanger for our bananas. I don't like to bananas just laying around on the counter, I thought this would look more tidy. Anyway, I get to the check out and the checker asks the normal Target question "Did you find everything OK"? To which I replied "no, I was looking for a banana hanger and I didn't see any back in the housewares section". The checker responds with an "oh". So then I say "why do you guys have to ask if we found everything OK when it doesn't matter to you"? I think I surprised her because she didn't really know what to say. I mean come on, do you think she really cared that I didn't find everything I was looking for? Anyhow, something for you to ponder on a Saturday.

Ashy B & Grandpa Watching Sissy's Dance Class

Special Visitor

Cousin Alex came home with us on Wednesday and is staying with us until Saturday. Aly is in 7th Heaven and is acting like she is four going on fourteen! Aly has always acted big for her age but this is a side of her I haven't seen. We have been watching Disney Chanel 24/7, listening to Hannah Montana, sleeping on the coach and falling asleep while watching HM, of course! Aly thinks cousin Alex is so cool and it's been really cute watching her go around the house acting "big" trying to impress Alex. I'm sure Alex is so impressed!

We went to to mall today and did some damage at Claire's (every girls favorite store). Alex got some HM gloves and a High School Musical necklace and Aly got Mylie hair - Hannah is Mylie's secret alias. Ashley has been going around the house bossing everyone around so at least she is acting like she's two!

If you don't have something nice to say...

don't say anything at all. That phrase also works if you don't have something positive to say about a certain situation. In order to stay in a positive frame of mind about selling this house I am going to choose not to "verbal vomit" to all of you about the situation right now. I'll just keep confessing John 16:24 - Ask and receive that your joy might be complete.

I really miss Corey. I just saw him 8 hours ago but I know I'm not going to see him until 5:30 Friday night. We went to STL yesterday for the night but we didn't really get much down time together as a family. I spent much of yesterday in the car, if I sat here and added up how many hours I spent in the car I would have even more to "vomit" about!

Aly had dance class yesterday morning, it was observation week. We received all of our information about the recital and then parents and guests were invited to observe the girls in their actual class. Grandma & Grandpa came to watch Miss Aly "show off". Even they noticed that Al prances around the studio like she owns the place. I ordered her recital song cd yesterday because her and I have a little practicing to do. Since we commute in from Columbia right now we don't always make it to class every week so I need to make sure she's on top of her game, plus I love any excuse to bust out my tap shoes and dance around on the tile to Cruella DeVille with the girls.

After dance we "drove" (start noticing all of the my emphasis on the word drove) to the commuter parking lot to meet Daddy so he could drop off his car. Then we "drove" Daddy back to work. Then we "drove" back to commuter parking to pick up our niece Alex (she's staying with us til Saturday since she's on cycle break). Then we "drove to MawMaw & PawPaw's in Eureka with a slight detour in the Valley to Target to pick up not one but two copies of the new movie "Nancy Drew" (I can't wait to watch it). After dropping the girls off at MawMaw's house I "drove" back to O'Fallon to pick Corey up then he "drove" to meet the realtor. We "drove" around with our realtor for over 2 hours and then we finally "drove" back to Eureka and ended up at Corey's parents at about 8 last night. The girls and I got up this morning and "drove" all the way back to Columbia. After a horrible nights sleep (I slept on the floor with Ash, she gets really croupy sounding when she sleeps on the feather bed or pillows at MawMaw's and then she cries so I was doing my best to pacify her so that all those that have to get up early for work could get a decent nights sleep) all I wanted to do way cry all the way back to Columbia, but I didn't, I had to be strong for all of the girls.

Why did I want to cry? I just want to be in STL functioning as a family 24/7. I feel like I am in limbo right now. Anyone who knows me knows that I like things in order and an itinerary. I like to have things planned out well in advance, I like to know what is going on and when it's going to take place. I am always calling people asking "what's the game plan". This whole experience of not knowing when the girls and I are going to be able to relocate has just really got me down "today". Emphasis on the "today". A wise woman had a phrase that she liked to encourage me with and it was "this too shall pass". Boy, I sure do miss you Gram. I know she's right, as I was riding my exercise bike, talking to Corey and crying ( I burned double calories for riding the bike and crying, right?) and I could hear Gram's voice in my head saying that to me. Then I'm sure the Holy Ghost told me, "you are going to look back on this short amount of time and laugh that you were riding your bike in the garage crying about this". So God, I'm ready to laugh about this, will you please tell me exactly when this is going to happen?

Back to the house hunting, the realtor is a super nice lady, we really like her! Like I stated above, she "drove" us around for over two hours and we looked at about 7 houses. What did we come up with in the two hours? I think we are new construction people. I have never had a "used" ( I call it pre-existing now, sounds better) house (the duplex does not count) and it was really tough to walk into these homes and see other people's grime. By the time you rip out all of the cabinets/counter tops and put in the ones I like, get new appliances, get new carpet, ceramic tile...etc. you might as well just buy new. They just don't make houses in STL like they do in Columbia. We have been very spoiled with the homes we have purchased here. This was the first time we looked at pre-existing and we were just not impressed. We keep going back to the new construction subdivision in O'Fallon that we absolutely love. Our house here in Columbia shows like a display home compared to what we saw there. As soon as we get a contract on this house we can put a contract on a house there. So...when exactly are we going to get a contract on this house?

Catching Up

It's time to catch you all up on all of our happenings. The girls and I left for STL Monday afternoon and came home yesterday morning. They were predicting alot of snow it STL for Tuesday so I figured it would be in our best interest to leave Monday. We had a full day and a half in spite of the 10 inches of snow we received in St. Peters (other places got lots more). Dance class was canceled on Tuesday, Aly was bummed. I had to call the studio and let her listen to the "dance class is canceled" message. I had a cavity filled on Tuesday afternoon, yuck. We spent the evening with Daddy playing, wrestling and watching American Idol and The Office.

After a frustrating reading session with Aly yesterday I had to come up with a new game plan in order to keep her motivated. Thus you will see a picture of "Aly's Reading Rewards" below. She thinks she should get "whatever I want" when she accomplishes her next story "Dan Ran". It's only two pages with about 10-15 words total so I don't think she will be getting "whatever I want". First of all, I'm not sure they make enough Hannah Montana (HM) stuff to reward her with a HM trinket every time she reads a couple of words (besides I've contributed to HM's college fund enough already) and I'm not spending $15-$20 each time she reads her 10 little words.

While we were shopping at Wal-Mart today I found this cute little lipstick container (after I took a picture of it I was kind of thinking that it doesn't exactly look like a lipstick container, it kind of looks like a giant pink glittery boy part, ew gross) filled with fun, colorful stationary, pens, stickers, etc. It was only $9.96 so she can be rewarded with one of these trinkets instead. Maybe when she reads the entire book and fills up her chart then we will talk about getting "whatever I want".

On to Ashley's Magic Slippers (see picture below). I picked up these "Magic Slippers" on clearance for $3 a couple of weeks ago at Payless. Ashley wore these slippers to Tumble Bee's last Thursday night and she had the best class she's ever had. Coach Bob and I joked about the slippers being magic the entire time. Ashley has been in Tumble Bee's since August and since she is so passionate she has very passionately expressed her unwillingness to participate and cooperate during class. She would cry and cling to Corey and I the entire time. Forget about her even getting close to Coach Bob except to stick her arms way our in front of her in order to receive a stamp on each hand at the end of every class.

I decided last week that since the house has not sold yet I would sign her up for one more session of Tumble Bee's. I decided to switch her to a morning class because her behavior is "fresher" in the morning and it's been a pain in the butt for me to take her at 5:30 in the evening (none of us want to get in the car and go at that time especially since it's been so cold this winter). So we get to Tumble Bee's this morning (with our magic slippers on) and Ash does phenomenal. She went through all the obstacles by herself, I actually had to tell her to wait her turn - a first, even Coach Bob was like "that's the first time I have ever heard you say that to her". She did the balance beam and by her last turn on the beam she was pushing my arms away so that she could do it by herself. The last thing they did was put their belly on the giant ball while Coach Bob pushed them on it, she laughed and smiled the whole time. Then at stamp time Ash sat down right in front of Bob and waited for her stamps. Talk about a stellar day, hmm, maybe I should work on potty training today!

After Tumble Bee's we went grocery shopping, again, the girls did excellent. I rewarded all of this good behavior with a trip to McAlister's Deli for grilled cheese, PB&J and sweet tea (for me). I love their sweet tea and their sugar cookies! I didn't have a sugar cookie today though, I figured 3 huge cups of sweet tea is probably enough sugar and caffeine for me today. I am feeling pretty jittery right about now! I'm thinking this will be my last hurrah with caffeine for a while anyway so I better live it up.

We've been working on this third baby since December (4 cycles) and still no luck. I don't get it, we've always joked that if Corey and I just look at each other I end up pregnant. I'm thinking that caffeine might be something that needs to be cut from my diet. When I have gotten pregnant in the past (all 5 times) I never drank coffee or soda. Now I drink coffee every morning and sometimes diet soda or tea in the afternoon. I've read that caffeine can have an affect on fertility so I think I am going to give this no caffeine thing a whirl. I think we are all ready for another baby in our house, Aly usually says the prayers before we eat and lately she tags the end of all of her prayers with "Thank you Jesus that our house is sold and that Mommy has a baby brother in her tummy". Ah, from the mouth of babes! I receive it!

Now that I've shared TMI with some of you I am going to let that be my final thought for the day (well...not for the day but for the blog).
