Fun In The Sun

Here are some pics of Jacey & Aly playing over the 4th of July Holiday, Ash was able to sneak one of pics too. I cannot take credit for these pics, props go to Aunt Pam for some awesome action shots, but these are too cute for me not to share!

Sisterly Love

I've been wanting to post this picture of us girls from the shower that Jess and I hosted for Laura over the 4th of July weekend. Sorry your eyes are closed baby girl but it's the only one we got, maybe Jess can photoshop your eyes open!

Ashley's New Thing

Many of you know that Ashy B is a climber! She loves to climb on anything. Here are a couple pictures from the shower that was hosted for Morgan at our house this past weekend.

No pics...yet

No pics of the new house yet. I've been way to busy to try to download anything. We had a full weekend and I expect that this will be a full week as we prepare to leave for Canada.

We are still going through our church searching process. We visited the same church that we visited on Wednesday and service was great! We will probably visit there again this Wednesday night and then try another one or two when we get home from Canada. I am ready to put some roots down somewhere so I expect that we will have found our place by the middle to end of August. We already have a great church that we can go to but we definately want to explore our options and find the place that works best for us.

Since we've been here and are starting to settle in I have found myself being rather restless and ready to pursue a career outside of the home again. Crazy I know, I didn't realize I was as career oriented and goal focused as I am. I have been fortunate to have fabulous jobs that have allowed me to have a career and be a wife and mom at the same time. The great thing is is that I can be picky, fortunately it's not imperative that I have a job outside of the home right now. So I have started to put a few feelers out there and will just wait and see what happens. I've always maintained that whatever will be a blessing to me and my family is what will come to pass. So stay tuned...

Getting There

As of yesterday afternoon we finally had internet, cable and phone, Praise God! I feel a little more connected to the outside world now! As the title of my post says...we are getting there. The house is really starting to come together. I know there will always be improvements that we want to make but at least for now it's functional.

We've had a few little hiccups along the way. The electricians wired my dryer outlet incorrectly so I couldn't wash any thing for the first few days. Once they finally got that fixed I washed two loads of laundry and then we discovered standing water in our brand new basement. The plumbers were out yesterday evidentally there was a block outside of our house somewhere in the pipes. Probably crap that the construction workers put down there...they don't care it's not their house. As of today it seems that we are functioning at near capacity except we don't have our fence up yet so the dogs are inside 24/7, hurray for dog hair flying all over a new house. The fence was supposed to be complete on Monday but while the contractor was setting the posts on Sunday our neighbor informed us that we couldn't have a cedar fence. It has to be aluminum or vynil...which equates to more money out of our pocket. The builder has known about the cedar fence from the get go and even gave us a quote for one. We relented and gave in to the vynil fence...I guess Corey's not in the mood to make enemies with our neighbors. Whatever, if he's up for the additional expense why should I let it bother me. Seriously though it's just one more thing.

We visited a church last night for a mid week service, it was big, definately not as intimate as what we are used to. Everything they believe and preached lined up with what we believe. They had a guest pastor last night so we will be going back on Sunday to get a feel for the Sunday services and the church as a whole. The kids loved the children's ministry and adapted right away. Aly has already asked when we can go back. Ashley and I will be dropping Aly off at dance camp this morning and then we've got a few errands to run. I've got a baby shower at the house this Saturday and then we leave for our vacation to Canada next Friday so everything will continue to slowly come together. I'm already ready to have a garage sale...I didn't realize we had some much unused stuff. Maybe I'll post some pics this weekend but don't hold your breath!

Anxious

Well we are down to the wire with much to do. We close on the new house tomorrow and then we will start moving everything to St. Louis tomorrow night and Saturday. Don't be jealous...I know all you wish you were spending your weekend moving too, oh wait, some of you are...those of you that are helping us! It's so much fun to pack your life up into boxes and to feel like everything is all over the place. We've been packing a little up at a time since January so it won't be too bad. I did however have to go digging through boxes in my garage so I could find my round cake pans so that could bake my Dad a cake for Father's Day...transition...such fun but soon we will be settled and back to normal...whatever that is.

I spent yesterday mowing the lawn, no snakes but I did see snake skin on the side of my house. Ugh. I also got a quick haircut as did Aly and Ashley got a pretend haircut. I'm was not quite ready for her first trim yet besides I didn't have my camera with me. Then I spent much of last night packing. My goal is to get this house in a completely moveable state by the time Corey gets home tonight. We are trying to make it super easy on the people that are helping us. It is no fun to help someone move that hasn't packed up anything by moving day. I want to make this as quick and painless as possible.

As of tonight I will be disconnected from blog world and internet world until sometime next Wednesday. You don't realize how much you depend on the internet until you don't have access to it. Looking up directions, paying bills, banking, etc. I've had to be very proactive and get all of our "ducks in a row" for the next few weeks. I better run, much to do. No time for storytime today...it's a good thing we got our hugs in on Monday Kim! If you ever want to come to STL for a day of shopping just let me know...I'm always up for a trip to the mall. Supposdly the Gymboree at the Galleria has the best deals and the biggest selection, am I tempting you yet?

Alright all, until Wednesday...or Thursday.

Mommies Helpers

My day started at 4:45am today! That's right...4:45am. Corey had to be to work at 7:00 am and then we had our pre-closing walk later in the morning. The morning started out a-ok (usually does when you have coffee). The girls and I dropped Corey off at work and then we headed over to Mickey D's for breakfast.

We decided to head to the restroom before we ordered breakfast and as Aly and I were deciding which stall we were going to use Ashley felt like it was the right time to throw up on both of us. She threw up all down the front of my shirt and in Aly's hair. Fortunately the girls still had their pj's on and I had fresh clothes for them...but now for me. Mind you, it's only 7am, I do not intend to walk around all day until 6pm smelling like puke. I had a hoodie on so I stripped off my shirt and zipped up my jacket...good thing my mom wasn't there she would've told me to "turn my shirt inside out". Right Mom? Long story...goes back to a trip to Canada that we took when I was 10 years old.

After 40 minutes of clean up we were finally ready to eat. Ashley ate her pancakes and sausage like nobody's business. This is not the first time she has puked on one of our STL trips...usually it's in her carseat and then I have to detour to my parents and spend a couple of hours washing everything. I think she gets carsick when all she has is juice on an empty stomach.

After Mickey D's we headed to Target, JC Penney and Macy's. Yes that's right, three places to find one shirt for me. The pre-closing walk went great, the house looks awesome. After the walk the girls and I headed over to Lowe's to buy $657 worth of "necessities" for the new house. Oh yeah and some $57 gas...for the Taurus (note the sarcasm). Aly helped by pushing one of the carts at Lowe's, even while doing all of this "work" she still has time to ham it up for me. Check out her new Barbie shoes, $2.98 Target clearance baby!

Curious

Today while the girls and I were eating lunch Aly started asking questions about when she was in my tummy. She thought it was pretty cool that she liked chicken nuggets and Dr. Pepper while inutero. We are having a fun time, joking around about how she would get really excited when I drank Dr. Pepper. She asked me if she was scared in my tummy and then she asked...you guessed it..."Mommy, how did I get in your tummy". "Uh, hmmm, well...God makes a special way. You can pray to God and ask him to put a baby in your tummy and when the time is right He will put one in there". I quickly followed it up with "but you have to be married". I figured if I didn't clarify her next comment would be "I'm going to pray that God would put a baby in my tummy".

TMI conversation diverted...at least for a little while, I'm not sure how long this explantion will last.

Close Encounters...

Yesterday while I was mowing the grass I got a BIG surprise. I was mowing along, minding my own business, enjoying flashback 80's on my IPOD (think Survivor's Eye of the Tiger, I wish I would've had a Tiger at the moment I saw the BIG surprise) when I saw movement in front of me. I saw something huge and black and then something a bit smaller and kind of brown. You guessed it...snakes!! I completely freaked out. I didn't get close enough to see how many there were, I just took off running for the house.

Luckily Monday is one of Corey's telecommute days so I ran to our bedroom window and started banging on it. He opened the blinds and I was said "get out here now, there is a huge snake in the back". Corey came out (without a shovel - the shovels are for chopping their heads off) to survey the situation. We didn't initially see the snake so he ran back to the garage for some weapons. I'll spare you the details of the "murder" but the smaller snake got away, it slithered further into our backyard (our yard is partially fenced and beyond the fence we have a tree line and kind of a creek area). This is the third snake encounter I've had this mowing season. The first time I encountered a snake I actually ran over it (on accident but thank God). That snake was not deep in our backyard but on the strip of grass next to the sidewalk (we have a very large corner lot - it takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours to mow the entire yard). The next time I mowed I saw a dead baby snake on the street next to the the strip of grass where I ran over the first snake.

Fortunately we will only have to mow one more time before we move...there's a reason this city girl doesn't live in the country...our subdivision is far from the country, Mickey D's and Taco Bell are not even a mile down the street.

One question, for my sister Jess, what is it with us and these crazy mowing stories? I think I would have rather encountered what you encountered the last time you mowed? You can check out "Lawnmower Jam" on my sisters' site.

The big snake was at least 2 feet and the baby was about one foot. Enjoy the pics!
